As Kellen and Korvavev rendezvous with their waylaid allies, one of the shiny gems that Kellen pocketed (Chris) suddenly speaks up. She halfheartedly identifies herself as an acolyte of the Way, a mysterious psychic force that reacts to and the known universe, and provides vague directions to the hangar where Korv's ship is kept. As Doc cashes in some favors and Crux helps the Kyrel pilot with their ship, the group sees a glimmer of hope, and a chance to start a new chapter of their lives...
